How not playing if the title above just read as the title alone: "Very Concerned with the AFF Cup!", with an exclamation point. But without intending the largest tournament discredit se-Southeast Asia, we indeed should be able to assess the AFF Cup from a different point of view.
Thailand, Singapore, Thailand, Thailand, Singapore, Singapore, Viet Nam, Malaysia,Singapore, and Thailand. It is a list of AFF Cup champion since 1996 till 2014, held every two years (except for 2006 is absent, replaced by 2007).
There are 12 Member States in the AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) or Southeast Asian Football Federation over this Cup. But we can probably take it 11 because, either because of what reason, Australia failed to participate in the AFF Cup even though they have already joined the AFF Member State on August 26, 2013.
See the prestige tournament, no wonder the soccer organization FIFA, as the world's highest, did not perceive as AFF Cup tournament officially recognised. But a few days ago we had a chance to read if the AFF Cup 2016 will go up the class and are recognized by FIFA. But after we drill down further, it turns out it is indeed only limited recognition.
FIFA indicated that this tournament is recognised as A category A international tournament. Call AFF Cup international tournament as a category A FIFA does not thenmake it the equivalent of a World Cup qualifying match or qualification level competition of the Confederation of the continent (it has a coefficient of 2.5), the equivalent of the continental confederation competitions or FIFA Confederations Cup (coefficients of 3.0), or even the equivalent of a match at the World Cup (the coefficient of 4.0).
This recognition just makes the AFF Cup entered into the agenda of the FIFA calendar, but counted only has coefficients (multiplier) worth of 1.0 or equivalent to friendly matches.

So, do such importance of AFF Cup to the FIFA ranking calculation? The answer is Yes, although it turned out not too significant.
AFF Cup competition as it States "the boxes"
In fact, for countries in the AFF, except Australia, they should be concerned with this tournament. AFF Cup was decisive prestige of countries in Southeast Asia that frankly are not (or not yet) could do much in Asia alone, the world.
If we look at it from a global point of view, this only AFF Cup equivalent of regionalcompetition.
Even if there is a discussion of Gold Cup, which I'm willing to bet if only a handful ofpeople who care; Cup level of the North American continent and Central America (CONCACAF) this rate is higher than the AFF Cup. In the FIFA coefficient, calculation of points on the Gold Cup is equivalent to AFC Cup (Asian Cup), European Cup (Euro), the Copa America, African Cup of Nations, and the Oceania Cup i.e. worth 3.0 with knockout credentials have coefficient 2.5.
In the meantime, if you want this AFF Cup synchronised, the same level as with other continents such as the regional competitions in Asia we can take an example that is East Asian Cup (EAFF East Asian Championship), South Asian Cup (SAFF Championship), and West Asian Cup (WAFF Championship); in Africa we can take an example that is CECAFA Cup, CEMAC Cup, COSAFA Cup, and the WAFU Nations Cup; as well as in the CONCACAF Cup Copa Centroamericana and there are Caribbean (CaribbeanCup).
There are only 10 regional competitions in the world. Europe (UEFA) and South America (CONMEBOL) did not have a regional Cup, while Oceania (OFC) had a chance tohave a cup of Melanesia and Polynesia Cup as their regional competition, but the competition's second already removed since 2000.
In addition, there are several regional competitions that are not followed by the country that arguably has a "strong" national team.
United States and Mexico has never participated in the Copa Centroamericana, Ivory Coast just send their second-tier team (Team B) in the CECAFA Cup, and perhaps this is what makes Australia still reluctant to follow the AFF Cup since 2013, meaningin two occasions including this year.
Fox Sports broadcasting rights holders as the AFF Cup tournament broadcasts to spread across Asia. In addition to the countries of Southeast Asia, FOX Sports spreadAFF Cup 2014 up to countries such as Pakistan, India, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia, Taiwan, China, South Korea, andPapua New Guinea.
But ironically, today, 11 November 1999, Fox Sports Australia which is a Member State of AFF, AFF Cup broadcast did not participate in their country.
It is indeed very limited to watch the AFF Cup if we hadn't been in Southeast Asia or some other country in the continent of Asia. So far, there is no information suggesting that the AFF Cup will be broadcast in Europe, the Americas, Africa, or Oceania (except Papua New Guinea again maybe).
The value of the AFF Cup as "the tournament is not important" is supported by the facts above. The same is true if when the Gold Cup (whereas pamornya worth of 3.0 coefficient) which briefly aired in Indonesia. We, the people of Indonesia, there is no need-need supremely or don't want-want very Watch Gold Cup.
So too with communities in the Americas, Africa, Europe, or Oceania, which equally is not necessary-need to be supremely or don't want-want to watch very AFF Cup; even the Asian Cup though.
The future of the AFF Cup
Reflect on the meaning of the presence of the AFF Cup, we should not seriously-very seriously, kok, and thus should be concerned. For countries "weak" in Asia, the presence of a regional competition is indeed like a party, such as an oasis in the middle of the desert.
Fair enough, although it has the most extensive area with 47 member countries, the continent has no State rations for the World Cup, unlike UEFA (55 member countries) and CONMEBOL (10 Member States).
So for countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and even India, Iraq, Iran, and Japan though, the presence of a regional competition to become one of the most important things. To be honest this AFF Cup was indeed "the boxes" if seen from the outside,but it's cool for us in Southeast Asia.
This is like community in the city which met with party dangdut in the countryside. They can just enjoy the party as a lowly activities dangdut, but for rural communities, a party that is a real form of self-actualization.
Indonesia itself has never won the tournament "boxes" even though it had entered the final four times. Ironically, Indonesia always sends his best strength. Though a few other countries, among them Thailand, started sending a lot of young players to compete in the biennial is because probably already realize how less bergengsinya itso prefer to give flying hours on his young players to increase the level of the game.
The future of the AFF Cup and other regional Cup will still continue to be bright. Butindeed, this title is appropriate, care very, anyway, with the AFF Cup. But ... depending on who used to that view. That is clear to us, the AFF Cup, Indonesia remains one of the tournaments that are important, at least to be able to show our strengths onthe neighboring countries, before reaching another dreams of a greater Asian Cup champion, as to be able to compete in the World Cup.
Because yes how want to play in the World Cup if the neighbours aja can not be defeated?
